Freeze-dried Chicken Tacos with BBQ Sauce
Simple and tasty treat made using freeze-dried food.
Ingredients
- 1 cup freeze-dried chicken, rehydrated and drained
- Grape seed oil
- 2 corn tortillas, toasted as per instructions.
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 slice sharp cheddar cheese, halved
- 1 green onion, minced
- 1 large romaine leaf, sliced finely
Instructions
- Place 1 cup of freeze-dried chicken in bowl, cover with boiling water, and cover. Drain after chicken is rehydrated (takes about 5-6 minutes).
- Make barbecue sauce by mixing ingredients below in a bowl.
- Spray pan and/or tortillas with oil. Over medium high heat, toast corn tortillas lightly. Remove from pan.
- Melt butter in pan. Add chicken and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add 1/4 cup of barbecue sauce and mix well.
- Divide chicken into two parts and place half slice cheese on each.
- Slide chicken “patties” onto tortillas. Place green onion and lettuce on top, and drizzle with remaining barbecue sauce.
- Other garnishes could include sour cream, lime juice, hot sauce, salsa, white onions, etc. according to your tastes.
- Serve warm.
- Barbecue Sauce Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons pureed chipotles in Adobo sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Maggi seasoning
